…ho osservato pazientemente mentre il materiale asciugava mutando colore; sottraendomi
lo sporco che mi rivestiva. Mi strappai via quella pelle per
poterla ricordare…

The latex, spread directly onto the skin, becomes a second layer — a glove that doesn’t cover, but absorbs. It adheres to every pore, works its way into every fold, retains what the skin carries: sweat, dust, the invisible residue of what has been lived. The material doesn’t merely take the form’s imprint — it takes something away, makes it its own.
As it dries, the latex changes color: it turns opaque where it was once transparent, a sign that something has passed from me into it. This is not simply an anatomical cast — it is an extraction. What experience has left on me, the dirt that life leaves without asking permission, is absorbed and held within that thin film.
Tearing that skin away from myself was a double gesture: liberation and preservation at once. In the moment I separate from the cast, I lose a covering that belonged to me — but I transform it into an object, into tangible memory. Memory doesn’t live in the mind alone: it lives in that porous surface that touched my skin and retained its trace. To immortalize a moment means exactly this — not to fix it forever unchanged, but to preserve its imprint, knowing that everything else, meanwhile, has already changed.
