Il secondo capitolo della collezione “nudi” porta il nome di Sara — ma, come ogni capitolo di Genteiban, non è solo la sua storia. È il racconto della sindrome dell’impostore: quella sensazione totalizzante, quasi terrorizzante, di non meritare ciò che si è raggiunto, di essere sul punto di essere smascherati da un momento all’altro.
Rivelare le proprie debolezze significa davvero smettere di essere chi si è sempre stati? Nude 9 mette in scena proprio questa domanda: il timore che mostrarsi fragili equivalga a un tradimento della propria immagine, quando in realtà è l’esatto opposto — è l’unico modo per essere visti per intero, non solo nella versione già approvata, già accettata, già “abbastanza”.

The second chapter of the “nudes” collection carries Sara’s name — but, like every chapter of Genteiban, it is not only her story. It is the story of impostor syndrome: that all-consuming, almost terrifying feeling of not deserving what one has achieved, of being on the verge of being exposed at any moment.
Does revealing one’s weaknesses really mean ceasing to be who one has always been? Nude 9 stages exactly this question: the fear that showing fragility amounts to betraying one’s own image, when in truth it is the opposite — it is the only way to be seen in full, not only in the already-approved, already-accepted, already-“enough” version.

限定版 (Genteiban) – Limited Edition – THE PROJECT CONCEPT;
The project was born in 2020, during the first Covid-19 lockdown, out of a personal need: to hold on, through a ritual gesture, to the memory of what was being lived. The ritual is a rite of care — caresses, a golden bath in which gold pigment spreads over the skin like an ointment. Underneath, a quiet humming: a deeply personal lullaby, in which every melody carries the mind back to specific moments of one’s own life, bringing them to the surface unwillingly, as if singing were also a way of remembering.
The artistic gesture dilates time and lets the mind lose itself — to remember is to experience a state of splitting, being simultaneously in the “here and now” and elsewhere, in two equally real planes of existence.
But every memory, however vivid, resists being fully transmitted. Even when we share it, we inevitably choose a single point of view, unwittingly censoring everything else — sounds, smells, sensations that blend together and that no telling can ever fully restore. Each of us is the only spectator in the front row of our own life.
Hence the title: in contemporary society, “limited edition” labels a product as special, unique, elite — and by buying it, by osmosis, we too feel special. And yet nothing is more truly unique and unrepeatable than a memory. The real limited edition is not for sale: it is the most common thing in the world, because everyone holds a different one, unreproducible, never fully shareable with anyone else.
Born as a private need, the project grew into a participatory journey: other people brought their own stories, expanding Genteiban into new chapters — Nude 8 and Nude 9. To bare oneself, to tell one’s own story, means exposing oneself: one can expose one’s courage, but also one’s fear, shame, the often all-consuming feeling of being an impostor. Revealing a vulnerability doesn’t erase who one has always been; it only exposes it, makes it visible to whoever is listening.

Il progetto nasce nel 2020, durante la prima quarantena da Covid-19, da un bisogno personale: fermare, attraverso un gesto rituale, la memoria di ciò che si stava vivendo. Il rituale è un rito di cura — carezze, un bagno dorato in cui il pigmento oro si spalma sulla pelle come un unguento. Sotto, un canticchiare sommesso: una ninna nanna profondamente personale, in cui ogni melodia riconduce la mente a momenti precisi della propria vita, li fa riaffiorare senza volerlo, come se cantare fosse anche ricordare.
Il gesto artistico dilata il tempo e permette alla mente di perdersi — ricordare significa vivere uno stato di scissione, essere contemporaneamente nel “qui e ora” e altrove, in un doppio piano di realtà ugualmente reale.
Ma ogni ricordo, per quanto vivido, resiste alla trasmissione. Anche quando lo condividiamo, scegliamo inevitabilmente un solo punto di vista, censurando senza volerlo tutto il resto — suoni, odori, sensazioni che si mescolano e che nessun racconto riesce a restituire per intero. Siamo, ciascuno, l’unico spettatore in prima fila della propria vita.
Da qui il titolo: nella società contemporanea, “edizione limitata” etichetta un prodotto come speciale, unico, d’élite — e acquistandolo, per osmosi, ci sentiamo speciali anche noi. Eppure nulla è davvero più unico e irripetibile di un ricordo. Il vero limited edition non è in vendita: è la cosa più comune al mondo, perché ognuno ne possiede uno diverso, non riproducibile, non condivisibile fino in fondo.
Nato come esigenza privata, il progetto si è trasformato in percorso partecipativo: altre persone hanno portato le proprie storie, ampliando Genteiban in nuovi capitoli — Nude 8 e Nude 9. Mettersi a nudo, raccontarsi, significa esporsi: si può esporre il proprio coraggio, ma anche la propria paura, la vergogna, la sensazione — spesso totalizzante — di essere un impostore. Rivelare una fragilità non cancella chi si è sempre stati; la espone soltanto, la rende visibile a chi ascolta.
